Many of my ancestors were Catholic, Lutheran, Evangelical and Methodist.
My Great Grandmother Alice was of Irish and English Catholic background; married a Man whose parents were both Jewish. They had come from France and Germany about 1830, and were married by her Cousin Rabbi Wise in Ohio.
My Great Grandfather and his parents are buried in the United Jewish Cemetery.
Alice had my paternal Grandmother attend a Catholic Convent when her father died…..and before Grandmother married….
I was raised Presbyterian by my parents, Lutheran by my Godmother- Attended Morman classes with my neighbors and from 7th through 9th grades went to Catholic Schools, attending regular mass. I loved many of the Nuns, & uniforms.
Although I Identify as a “Christian” to most, I consider myself Spiritual rather then Religious. When my mother remarried, both of them attended a college class in “Comparative Religions.” I learned to be discerning for what resonated with me as an “individual.” Open minded and to see the good in all….
I myself took such classes in college. I consider myself “Non-Denominational” and I shy away from Almost ALL Organized Religions these days. I feel I do not need to be in a Building to feel close to our creator or “God.”
To judge people for not using a Word or Pronoun of YOUR choice…for “God” to me is small minded. This “Wokism” is also causing division among people, not unifying, but dividing, when there are more important things then playing word games and emotional games.
I have family and close friends of many different political parties, other than communism or socialist/Marxism. I care for them all. Having a “R” or “D” behind your name is not the beginning or end all of who you are. Your choice or not of a Organized religion affiliation is not all your sum of being.
People are spewing Hate and playing the blame game. No country or culture or belief system or religious ideology is without blame or responsibility greater or smaller, for history’s past aggressions and/or “Colonialism” or Predjuism and man’s/woman’s actions. And a “racist” is Still a “racist”
I’ve said this in my lectures, classes, and on Radio. I have “Zero tolerance for intolerance. “ If you Pray….please keep the worlds People in your prayers.
