In small-town and rural Oklahoma, the legacy of child abuse rarely ends with childhood. It mutates. It follows the survivor into adulthood, into motherhood, and into every attempt to build a stable life. When the abuser is a covert narcissistic mother who has already enabled or participated in earlier abuse, the control becomes total — using the survivor’s own child, her home, her health, and even local institutions as weapons.
Tonight on RTR Truth Media, we welcome guest Mara, who shares her story in full. She describes how she had finally risen above the trauma of her childhood — only to have it all systematically dismantled. The magnitude of pressure and isolation she has endured is staggering. RTR Truth Media’s own investigation has verified the substantial accuracy of the events she describes, many of which were directly witnessed by members of our team.
Rising Above — Then Being Torn Down
Mara had done the hard work. She had purchased her own house. She had a car. She had her child. There was food in the cupboards and plenty of toys. She was building stability after years of trauma.
Then came the relationship with a man who abused her and injured her badly. At that critical moment, when filing for Social Security disability could have provided the support to keep her life intact, her own mother dissuaded her from applying. RTR Truth Media’s investigation has confirmed that if she had been allowed to pursue those benefits at the time, she might have managed through the crisis with far less destruction.
Instead, her car was repossessed. Then her mother took her baby.
Mara describes being pressured into agreeing to inpatient rehab even though her first three drug tests were negative. Her mother promised in open court to pay at least three months on the mortgage so Mara could focus on treatment. RTR Truth Media has verified that this promise was never kept. Her mother knew, Mara states, that the financial pressure would trigger a panic attack, causing Mara to leave the facility. The effect (Mara appearing to fail rehab) would outshine the cause (the deliberate sabotage). And it worked.
Since that time, courts have ordered Mara’s mother to allow two visits per week and daily phone calls with her child. Mara reports that her mother has defied these orders — granting only about half the visits and just two calls per week. She describes this minimal compliance as a deliberate message: her mother intends to remain in complete control of Mara and her child, court orders notwithstanding.
When Enablers Become Instruments: From Flying Monkeys to Coordinated Interference
Covert narcissistic parents rarely operate alone. They recruit others by painting the survivor as unstable, selfish, or dangerous. These enablers — often believing they are “helping” or putting the person “on the right path” — become proxies. They confront, monitor, report back, and interfere. What begins as flying monkeys can escalate into what the survivor experiences as a coordinated campaign of surveillance and pressure.
In Mara’s case, this has included relatives being authorized to enter her home. RTR Truth Media’s investigation has confirmed elements of this pattern of proxy interference. She describes an environment where she feels constantly watched and isolated, with multiple people acting on her mother’s narrative while claiming to act out of concern for the child. The psychological toll compounds the original abuse.
Alleged HIPAA Violation and Institutional Cover-Up
RTR Truth Media while conducting this investigation not only can confirm this next allegation, but was present as this event unfolded which enabled one of RTR’s investigators to record witness testimony that shows that her mother, who works as a nurse at Fairfax Community Hospital an AVEM holding, violated HIPAA by engaging one of the hospitals patients while at the location and informed him that she was aware that he had stayed 3 nights at her daughter’s new place and not to bother trying to deny it because she has them (Mara and her husband) followed. She went on to suggest that the cellulitis he had likely came from sexual or surface contact in.the home. (a defamatory and outlandish smear that is absolutely unfounded) This would show a character assassination plan was well underway. The big issue here is that. sharing Mara’s personal sexual and medical information with another patient at the hospital meets the criteria that show she comiitted 2 TIER 4 violations. If those in positions of authority only just did their jobs this might have ended Mara’s suffering then. The offence comes with 10 years in federal prison for the act as it was willful and to cause harm. She notes that it’s pretty scary how many people look up to her mother as if she would or could do no wrong to spite the fact that her mother had previously been fired (and lost her license) for alleged medication mismanagement.
According to Mara, the hospital’s HIPAA Compliance officer covered up the breach. RTR Truth Media has investigated this matter and verified the core facts as presented. RTR spoke with the HIPPA officer and easily identified her rather sadly blatant manner that she seemed to have decided before investigating. RTR knows violations of this nature can carry serious criminal penalties. And we have contacted the US HHS, and the US Dept. Of Justice and assisted Mara in filing.
This alleged breach represents, in Mara’s words, one of the most profound betrayals: her most private information, the anxiety and paranoia that is rightfully justified that compounds her already diagnosed conditions, weaponized by the person who was supposed to protect her long ago but groomed her handing her over to a predator, and who now has her son.
But Mara didn’t do what her mother expected this time.
She kept on speaking the truth. And she will not stop until justice is served. An effort we intend to use all our effort to see through.
The Clinical and Practical Need for Reduced Exposure
For survivors of complex trauma compounded by ongoing narcissistic control, proxy harassment, and systemic betrayal, continued exposure is often retraumatizing. It prevents nervous system regulation, destroys self-trust, and makes it nearly impossible to parent effectively or heal. Mara’s story illustrates why many survivors eventually conclude that distance — however painful and however criticized — is necessary for survival and for breaking the cycle for their own children.
