The whole Dugin hysteria was whipped up by Glenn Beck and amplified by various groups down the line, including Ukrainian intelligence. He makes for a good bogeyman because of his work, his nazbol memeing in his younger days and that he did an in-person interview with Léon Degrelle.
He talked with Alt-Right personalities because he was approachable, came on whatever show he was invited on (even tiny ones) and for what it is worth is actually a good academic. However he wasn’t actually all that influential and in retrospect his work isn’t that groundbreaking.
He would always be very thoughtful on shows though, which made me hate to see how all this insanity led to the death of his daughter. Still disgusts me remembering the glee the banderites and nafo freaks expressed over her murder and his suffering.
