Tomorrow marks not only the 20th anniversary of the Columbine incident, but also the 105th anniversary of the Ludlow Massacre. If the former were an emblematic illustration of an Operation Gladio styled Strategy of Tension re-envisioning of the latter, how would we know? Perhaps a better question is; would anyone care?

For roughly a generation now, many Americans have believed themselves to be ‘waking up.’ There’s even a somewhat derisive term for it in contemporary vernacular: ‘woke.’ But are Americans really waking up, or entering through the looking glass and down the rabbit hole, into James Jesus Angleton’s Inception-like wilderness of mirrors (‘horrors’)…? People should be reminded; Kool-Aid comes in a variety of flavors. Before you can ‘influence,’ guide, direct, control a person’s attention – and the person – you must first get their attention.

Will it be said by future generations that this nation died without suspecting the cause of its mortal sickness?

— Anonymous (nom de plume, Helen Peters), The Union Jack (1971) Prologue

… newsworthy events involving people usually do not happen by accident. They are planned deliberately to accomplish a purpose, to influence ideas and actions.

— Edward Bernays, as quoted by Vance Packard in The Hidden Persuaders (1957)
