However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.

George Washington, Farewell Address (September 19, 1796)

…the essential features of that individualism which, from elements provided by Christianity and the philosophy of classical antiquity, was first fully developed during the Renaissance and has since grown and spread into what we know as Western European civilisation—the respect for the individual man qua man, that is the recognition of his own views and tastes as supreme in his own sphere, however narrowly that may be circumscribed, and the belief that it is desirable that men should develop their own individual gifts and bents.

Friedrich Hayek, The Road to Serfdom (1944) chapter 1. The Abandoned Road

To the great apostles of political freedom the word had meant freedom from coercion, freedom from the arbi- trary power of other men, release from the ties which left the individual no choice but obedience to the orders of a superior to whom he was attached.

Friedrich Hayek, The Road to Serfdom (1944) chapter 2. The Great Utopia

And so it is to the printing press–to the recorder of man’s deeds, the keeper of his conscience, the courier of his news–that we look for strength and assistance, confident that with your help man will be what he was born to be: free and independent.

John F. Kennedy, Address before the American Newspaper Publishers Association (April 27, 1961)

Notes

Revisit Rhonda’s 2/19 [yesterday] call on first hand testimonial stories. ‘Would it help?’ Yes – BUT, only in a specific format. What do I mean? In fact, we already have innumerable such resources. And yet, we know how the story goes – and it’s always ‘the same old story’. Whether it’s the latest mother of a child permanently injured or killed by a flu shot crusading against big pharma, or ‘Guillain-Barre Syndrome Survivor’ story (YT vid) or [other examples] or Dr. Daniel Neides testimony, it’s only after the fact, in spite of overwhelming evidence that would inform the public to the contrary of big pharma propaganda.

Guillain-Barre Syndrome Survivor Story – Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom

The problem is, it’s the same old story. And unless something changes, unless the vicious cycle of towing the propaganda line, only to become the next victim or parent or guardian of a victim turned crusader, unless this pattern of errant behavior

Returning briefly to the discussion of ‘books vs. the internet’ so to speak. So much of the internet is shifting sand. Again, the ironic paradox here is that the same companies; Google, IBM, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, et al, the technology companies who lead the discussion of and push for canonical resources – i.e. the ‘go-to’ place (on the web) for things – are also leading the efforts to eradicate arguably canonical resources and efforts which don’t fall in line with the stratospheric ideological bent which governs these organizations.
