“This is the beginning of the end of their world.” That was former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich talking on the Hannity show yesterday. Maybe the most powerful interview segment I’ve ever seen. “It’s time for the Attorney General to step up to the plate. Jeff Sessions (Gingrich’s personal friend of long standing) has nowhere to hide.” That was more of Gingrich’s bombshell interview. And that’s what we talk about in our December 15, 2017 Trump Phenomenon show. Gingrich, a major historian, also said: “This is the greatest crisis in terms of the rule of law in American history.” Raising his voice and pointedly addressing Sessions, Gingrich in all but the actual words calls Jeff Sessions a coward for “not doing his absolute obligation to prosecute” what Gingrich calls the largest (by far) criminal corruption in American history on two specific matters: “corruption of the FBI”, and “corruption of the Hillary campaign”, corruption and crime so great that it constitutes the “greatest crisis of the rule of law in American history”. Wow. Forget about whatever bones you or I may ever have had to pick with Newt Gingrich. What he just did on national TV, on the #1 show, is decisively throw down the gauntlet at Sessions with an authority that even Hannity can’t generate…..yet, anyway. Because I think we’ll see bronze statues of Sean Hannity in public squares all over our nation in recognition of his absolutely critical role breaking this hugest story of our time. Hannity has pounded and pounded the story, he’s been dogged in his staff’s research, and one result is that still-remaining good folks on the inside of the FBI and the Justice Department are getting devastating documents to reach his hands.
