Recently Texe Marrs passed away, and I have thus far neglected to mention his passing. How many largely unsung heroes have tirelessly dedicated and devoted their entire lives to the cause of liberty, inspiring their fellow man to responsible independence and autonomy, and the beauty of mans highest and most noble creative aspirations and expression, while some of us sit behind a keyboard…? “In Memoriam” below is my hackish list of just a few (57 at last count) brave, courageous souls whose presence we’ve lost just in the post 9-11 era, but who are not forgotten…

Callers

  • John – TN
  • William – MT

I must study politics and war, that our sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. Our sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history and naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry and porcelain.

John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams (May 12, 1780)

For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence–on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.

President John F. Kennedy, Address before the American Newspaper Publishers Association (April 27, 1961)
